Previously Painted Walls
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED WALLS
On previously painted walls, go over glossy or greasy areas with a surface cleaning solvent such as the PaintErase Surface Prep Paint Cleaner. Just spray it on and apply the paint within 15 minutes. Surface Prep Paint Cleaner dries quickly, softens the surface to give the new coat good adhesion, and eliminates the work and clean-up of sanding. Sanding lightly will achieve the same effect, but you must dust carefully afterward. Light sanding also helps smooth out minor surface imperfections such as dust specks. Steel wool is recommended on curved surfaces such as woodwork where you want to avoid breaking through the old intact paint film. Don’t paint until the area is dusted and dry. Again . . . if washing walls, make sure to rinse the residue off, regardless of any “no rinsing" instructions that accompany the detergent. When removing dirt or grease with Surface Prep Paint Cleaner, turn the cloth frequently to insure complete removal.
